few years ago i went metal detecting at Shingle Street , few peeps go there doing that and i later found out why. For starters its always been a lonely spot with not much obvious history, although it was used by the Raf as a target range in ww2 which made me curious . Anyhow i found little there until i struck on a strange brass object just below the surface,it was about the size of a cotton reel. I never went back to Shingle street because i later found out that brass object was the striker button from a landmine! More recently i painted this scene of peeps at Shingle street, its in my etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/sunnySUFFOLKart
